i now wish to concentrate on the "places" that heightened
rhythm can take me. i want to more understand the trance like states
when im in a groove. i want to document and study how the chemicals in
my body change when entering these heightened states. |
maybe in my quest for happiness and groove i focused on the neagative. it seems now (today at least) that i have found this deeper groove, im not so irritated or interested in the rhythmless sitstillers. i have to admit that in the past they bothered me. they effected me negatively and i may not have even been aware of it but i believe my actions and words may have revealed this. there was a time when i would "rant" to my buddies about the lack of rhythm in the place and post messages to bulletin boards about it. it seems now that im rhythmically and spiritually satisfied i look at the sitstillers differently. they are becoming a non issue. where before i my have felt that they stood between me and something that i wanted. and i may not have known how to get what i wanted and subconsciously blamed them. it did use to irritate the hell out of me. lately it seems im over that and may now even pursue aggressively the few that have rhythm and are in groove and not be affected by the rhythmless stand and sit stillers. july 11, 2003

| "Dance is the outward expression by both body and soul of culminated ecstasy. Dance may be said to be an instinct, some compelling emotion within us that urges us to find expression in outward rhythmic movements which gradually seem to come to assume certain forms. Dance is obviously an outward mode of a deep inner feeling. Humans have been moved to dance on joyous as well as painful occasions. Even children dance before they learn the use of all their limbs. There is rhythm manifest in all nature in the firmaments. Dance symbolises an inspiration which elevates us from the earthly bonds that bind us down, to higher levels, thus revealing the warped and suppressed feelings, and creates, if it be fleetingly, those moments of the soul when we become one with the universe." http://www.aber.ac.uk/~drawww/journal/dance.html |
| The Law of Entrainment "In 1665 Dutch Scientist Christian Huygens decsribed something which is now called the law of entrainment. This law holds that if two or more rhythms are in close proximity, they will always fall into syncrony. Huygens observed that pendulum wall clocks, when placed next to each other, would become "entrained" and beat in sync with each other. This law holds true for all types of rhythms, bio, celestial, mechanical, musical ect." from: http://www.entrain.com/history.asp | "in orthodox Judaism, men and women are
not allowed to dance together, and during the Middle Ages, the Christian
church didn't allow dancing (some groups, such as Southern Baptists,
still prohibit dancing)" http://www.dummies.com/WileyCDA/Dummies Article/id-976.html i celebrate and release/emit energy physically and spiritually through

| Move In Rhythms "The temporal lobes are involved with processing and producing rhythms.
Many Americans never learn about the concept of rhythm and how important
it can be to healing and health. Chanting, dancing and other forms of
rhythmic movement can be healing. Chanting is commonly used in eastern religions and orthodox western religions as a way to focus and open one's mind. Chanting has a special rhythm that produces an almost trance-like quality, bringing peace and tranquility to the person. In these states, the mind is more open to new experiences and learning. Even for people with two left feet like myself, dancing and body movement can be very therapeutic. When I worked on a psychiatric hospital unit, the patients had dance therapy three to four times a week. I often found that my patients were more open and more insightful in psychotherapy after a dance therapy session. Dancing, like song and music, has the ability to change a person's mood and give them experiences they can treasure throughout the day, week, or even longer. Look for opportunities to move in rhythms." http://www.brainplace.com/bp/music/default.asp |
"The most primitive part of our brains,
the reptilian cortex, responds to music by noticing the noise and giving the body a hit of adrenaline"

come together? In rhythmic, predictable actions like drumming, dancing and
singing. And according to Dr. Freeman, only humans have rhythm." "The word "Vidyaa" means scientific discipline. For instance Rag Vidyaa, which is the science of rhythm. From Rag Vidyaa comes the hundreds of "Ragas" or rhythm patterns used in Indian classical music. It is the complete knowledge available to man about the effects of rhythm on consciousness." http://www.gatka.de/VIDEA.htm |

Rhythm 1 In
the fikr - in what rhythm you began, you should continue to breathe. By
losing the rhythm much is lost. Music is the miniature of life's harmony
in sound in a concentrated sense. The person who has no rhythm
physically cannot walk well; he often stumbles. The breath, the speech,
the step, all have rhythm. The person who has no rhythm in his emotions
falls easily into a spell, such as laughter, or crying, or anger, or
fear. We should practice rhythm in our lives, so that we may not be so
patient and yielding that everybody takes the best of us, nor so carried
away by our enthusiasm and frankness that we say things that are
undesirable in the world, nor so meek and mild that we fall into
flattery, timidity and cowardice. Then, by and by, we may understand the
rhythm of emotions, the rhythm of thoughts, then the rhythm of feeling.
Then a person comes into relation with the inner rhythm which is the
true meaning of the world.
2 Everything
in the world has two movements: the moon has its waxing and waning; the
sun has its rising and setting; the tide has its flow and ebb; man has
his rise and decline. This shows us that time is not in the watches and
the clocks that we have made, but time is the rhythm that is in the
whole universe. http://murshid.net/music/rhythm.html |
