Workplace Apathy: Self-Reflection and Change

so my happy Wednesday in the office starts off with me not being able to login to the call system. when in doubt, reboot. that didn’t help. found a work around. coming up on 30 minutes past my designated time to go available. such is life.

 

 

pub mix and sparkling lemonade got me feeling good. Im becoming comfortable with my new “work attitude” and I know for sure this is not a good thing. but it’s such a relief. I always say apathy (not caring) is the most underrated and disrespected part of happiness. the letting go. no matter how temporary. this is dangerous though. the effect it could have on my of overall disposition. I went to the SSA site today to see how much I would get if I retired today. wasn’t like I didn’t already know, it just felt good to do it. can’t take any more PTO until April 25 and setting that as the priority had made things clearer and easier. regardless of what I have to sacrifice to achieve this. I’m speaking of integrity. and in many ways respect. internal stuff. the thing is you don’t see that kind of behavior here. not like other jobs I’ve had where not working was seen as cool. and I respect this place and what it has done for me too much to dishonor that. I don’t want to be that guy, nor have that kind of thing attached to me.

i just brought to my attention a good point. and hopefully it’s not too late. my attitude being what it is, may be best kept closer to myself. and this is not the way i’m use to living or being. in most cases it’s best not to burn bridges, no matter how good the letting go feels. especially in this case as i strongly desire to stay a part of this organization. though i have proven my superior talents, i can’t let arrogant behavior tarnish my reputation. and i mean the “letting go” felt and feel soooo damn good. the fact you don’t see that at all around here didn’t hit me until now. i was becoming a little to out and open with it. i made a couple comments very too comfortably out loud and became aware of who all could have heard it. then i thought how i would feel if i heard someone else make this kind of comment. to hear someone disrespect this company whos integrity i honor so deeply. and i didn’t like that. even the appearance of me on my phone typing my previous long facebook post is not a look you see around here. and though i have access to facebook on my work computer i dont use it. a lot of other people do their socia media and shopping on their work computer and its cool because we are treated like responsible adults. its about you getting your work done and doing your job. so im writing this in notepad on my work computer and will e-mail it to myself to post to facebook. i usually don’t play the “appearance” game and it feels weird for me not to be blasting my every thought for everyone to hear. im am such an open person it almost feels like lying. but “blasting” my every thought and radiating them are two different things. the latter i will not and probably can’t stop doing. though i know and say i can do anything i want, its very probably more of something i will not do than “cannot.” but if its akin to lieing or deceiving that’s a tough one. its been so long since ive told a lie (where i deliberately said or led some one to believe something i knew was not true) i’m not sure i can anymore. anyhow i just made and noticed a flippant comment i made without thinking that possibly could fall in the above behavioral category. now that i am aware, i am going to watch myself in that regard too.

and its like i dont have the urge to release or express that energy anymore. i see bigger more important things on the horizon. things that motivate me to be a better person. TRAVELLING TO P-FUNK SHOWS!!!! inspiration is inspiration. whatever it takes, whatever the party calls for. funny how a few P-FUNK shows can put things into perspective and fix my life. 3 weeks ago i was ready to walk out on a leave of absence and now ive vowed to not miss a day of work for months straight. and feel fairly good about it! with my new priorities i made a few adjustments in my work behavior that i would not have been able to make before i acquired this new attitude. once i know what and why i want, i know how and am capable of getting it. and i really really really dont want to bring any kind of “negative” energy in this space. even if i do it with a smile and humor. which is how i was doing it. lighthearted and fun, but deeply true and honest. but it all stops. i got a goal and i need this place. i’m noticing this “negative” energy escaping via my openness and freedom of expression without me realizing it. and it’s very unprofessional!! dont get me wrong i am a fan of unprofessional but when its appropriate and not over done. and in this environment a lot of it is very not needed. LOL ive grown conscious of my behavior now that i got goals to achieve. gotta protect the mission. by all means necessary for the mission!!!
