What Go(o)d Comes From Prayers?

Our leaders on the scene asking multiple times for prayers, why?

It’s a pacifier.

And what exactly are we suppose to be praying for? And praying to what for what?

And to be elected to a leadership position you must display a strong belief in prayer.

Prayer is completely self serving

Prayer and meditation may be cousins maybe, but there is harm in praying to and relying on an external source, expecting action from that source and doing nothing. Being subservient to a higher being is de-empowerment and esteem lowering, there is nothing higher than us (consciousness) and we need to start acting like it.

The underlying problem also is that there is something out there that is going to come and save us or helps us. We need to realize that we are all we have and step up to the plate and not pacifying ourselves waiting on the savior.

I Feel Totally Like A Mortal Today

i feel mortal today. mentally clumsy and unable to leap tall buildings with a single bound. when i go thru these types of episodes i imagine that this is what the overwhelming majority of the rest of the world feels like basically all the time. the keywords: “feels like.”20150705_105816

sure i may or may not be “immortal” and just a “talking hairless monkey” like other homo sapiens, but the key is what i feel like. belief is a powerful thing in that just as your faith in God strengthens and supports you, my deep belief in myself and my capability empowers me just the same. maybe my belief more so as i place nothing above me and i bow to nothing i’ve witnessed in this universe. i am indebted to no higher power and my behavior is not directly tied to an arbitrary judgement to determine my eternal happiness or well being.

this thinking gives me the foundation to achieve a freedom that most humans could never possibly attain. a freedom that just doesnt happen but needs to be achieved via effort and focus.

my future and the things that happen to me are not dependent on an unseen conscious being. the mere fact i’m not bound by an idea of a force that protects me from an evil is a massive freedom.

Love One Another For What?

20150608_000832On my way to work I saw a guy wearing a t-shirt that said “Love One Another.” I thought to myself, what would that really accomplish? What does “loving one another” really get done? Getting things accomplished, fixed, changed, progress, etc may be the goal and that can be done if we love each other or not. More practical and tactical strategies are needed to “progress” in a global world consisting of thousands of cultures and billions of people. Then I thought there is a chance we have accomplished more things because of NOT loving each other!! LOL

When I was smoking weed daily I was deep into the whole hippy- new age- harmony- hugs and rainbows- depaak chopra- thing. But then I realized that whole “let’s get along” concept is just an operating mode. It actually is not a solution, action or strategy to get anything done!!
We don’t have to come together to get stuff done and things changed. And hey now that I think it may be even better if we DON’T kum-by-ya in sleep circles. It may be best if we address our social, economic, etc issues with opposing viewpoints, dispositions and emotions.

We are in this together and in the macro macro sense at multiple universe scales we are “a” one. But that may not mean that we are one. Sure it feels good to pursue the idea of solidarity, but possibly the only things we may need to be “one” in is communication and economic protocols. When it comes to the actual “get things done” practicals of exchanging with each other there we need to be one and on the same page.

We are past the “can we all get along” phase. It may not seem like it but we are already actually doing it. There will never be an “everybody is equal” or a “we are all a success” Utopia. Certain evils will always exist but should not detract from the parts we are getting right. And for the most part WE ARE GETTING IT RIGHT. We may not all love one another but basically we are getting along. A few acts of violence and the corresponding outrage are reminders of what “evil” is and can really be.

God Is NOT Love, Love Is Love

10462901_10153238680367125_972386062570633939_nGOD IS NOT LOVE! Love is love, God is God. Accumulating favorable, “moral” and desirable qualities and then attributing them to God is an attempt to redefine what a “God” is.

In fact, “God is love” feels all new agey spiritual but it doesn’t mean anything. Let alone that there is no evidence of what God is or isn’t in the first place. Love is love and that’s enough. It’s all we need, no need to attach God to it. And we created love- we is the totality of life that evolved on earth.

If God is everything, then God is nothing.

Black People And The American Holiday

11703031_10153517684697125_4352307154068708078_nSo basically now if you black you should only celebrate MLK day, Juneteenth, Black History month (but with a sneer because it’s the shortest month) and Kwanzaa. Did I miss any?

All the other holidays are racist, celebrations of American oppression or marketing gimmicks.

Evolution Means All Of Us Don’t Make It

is there such a thing as thinking too liberally? i mean that in a sense we loose a sense of identity, distinction and uniqueness? if everything is everything then everything is nothing.

in a macro sense11425078_10153446917677125_3204700132205224936_n we are all in this together and in the macro macro sense we are all one. but where do we draw the line that distinguishes us and things from each other? how do we make progress without differentiating? we can’t all be the same nor should we allow our “sameness” to be the basis of us getting along. we should just simply get along regardless of our opinions and we don’t have to like or even accept each other. segregation may even be the “best” solution in some cases and who or what is to say that it isn’t?

getting along, acceptance, loving everything and everybody, empathy, anti racism, anti discrimination blah blah blah is only a policy. this and new age spiritualism does not get anything done, its an operating mode.

sometimes i think we focus so much on the operating mode and the underlying policy and not actually doing and executing that which we feel needs to be done. example being we are so focused on racism where if we were focused on getting people jobs and education and a means to exist happily racism even segregation wouldn’t matter. so what be racist all you want, your racism DOES NOT affect me or slow me from getting mine. so in ways, racism is not the point- being successful and happy is…

people of all colors and kinds are being left behind and this may be a natural part of the process in the evolution of the species. evolution does not have a determined specified goal of what will be successful and therefore that is what we will evolve to, but all of us and everybody “making it” is not a realistic part of the equation. its a matter of survival and with our higher consciousness we are able to dissect and emotionalize this process and even guide it to a certain point. BUT the bottom line is survival and everybody cannot and will not do that. some will be left behind as life and mankind head towards the whatever.

we are becoming a technology based species and those who do not or who cannot utilize these tools will at the least be at a disadvantage. in my line of work ive seen people retire because they couldn’t or did’t want to handle all the work being done on the computer. life is progressing and it is an internal family generational thing to ensure the offspring have the tools and knowledge to keep up. school and college only go so far in the development of human beings. its up to the parents and the village to remain cutting edge and when this breaks down you have whole communities left behind.

and then survival by any means necessary becomes the norm and this is not only by violence and criminal activity but by playing any blame game available to them.

Of My P-Funk Gods And My P-Funk Universe

20150627_223952Ok, so over the last 3 months I’ve personally witnessed performances by The Brides Of Funkenstein (Dawn Silva), by George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic and by Bootsy’s Rubberband. Of course I’m going to rank and compare, maybe. First off, nobody does it better than GC & P-funk- even on the night’s the very sound of the band I love to death has irritated me- BUT there are elements to each of these P-funk entities that seem to stand out. (and that I wish very deeply could be combined at least one time). But before I go into that, the first thing I must address is how lucky, blessed and truly treasured I feel to hear the music I absolutely love sooooo much played live “properly” 40 years after I heard that first note of Mothership Connection that changed my life. Literally changed me forever and inspired a life long passion that has never ever waned. There shall be no other.

Last night Bootsy and them did their version of Mothership Connection with Gary “Mudbone” Cooper calling the mothership. The most important thing about this song to me is the tempo. The 420 Funk Mob may have hit the best tempo ever if you ask me, but GC & P-funk have had nights (Long Beach Funkfest for one) where the tempo combined with the stage power makes it basically untouchable by anything in the universe. But what was interesting about Bootsy’s version was the two bass? and maybe synth? that was used. The tempo was “slow” enough to be in the good zone and the drums and vocals did the damn thing. The horns did ok to good, but nobody comes close to Mr Thomas and Mr. Cowan after many years of hearing it their way (speaking of which after years and years and years of hearing Mr Hampton play “his” P-funk parts and his sound it’s almost like nobody but him should even attempt to play them, but I know that’s playfully dramatically unreasonable).

Ok, where was I? Oh yeah, now the “swing down” calling the mothership part where Bootsy space bassed and Mr Cooper called took it to another level. Musically Bootsy did that part maybe “better” than any, I mean the intensity felt like I may have never heard it. Now I’ve heard Greg Thomas and Danny Bedrosian (420 FM), Steve Boyd (GC & PF) call the mothership and Mr Cooper’s version was good no doubt- BUT it was done in what I call the “Bootsy sound.” and that leads me to maybe the crux of the matter.

Even back in the day to me Bootsy’s music “lacked” something that Parliament & Funkadelic music had. Not sure, but like a gritty nastiness, that thang Mr Clinton puts on it to make it “hard” or whatever. And even to this day and last night and even when Bootsy was out with the “allstar” line-up (Waddy, Blackbyrd and Bernie, etc) well maybe then that version may have come almost unrecognizably close (maybe maybe)- BUT the point is to me Mr Collin’s version of P-funk needed Mr. Clinton and noticing the parts that stood out good last night GC & P-funk “lack” the parts of that sum’n sum’n Mr Collins brings. And in a round about way this supports my personal feelings about the first true FUNK that began with Mothership Connection and the united works of Collins and Clinton. To me Parliament is on a level all to itself. No other entity in the universe comes close to touching those albums (after Mothership Connection) and in my mind this is what defined and created FUNK (no, not James Brown). So last night when I’m hearing Mr Collins get at that cleanish, tightish, rehearsedish, banging on the one there was something “missing” that the motherband GC & P-Funk ooooze all over the place with. Also with Dawn Silva (Chenault, Blackbyrd) and the Brides of Funkenstein, hearing them hit that spot the way they did and like ONLY people who served directly in the P-funk camp can. (Lige Curry’s band hits it too. Also Katdelic, though I wish I could see the difference if they played more often to black and rhythmic crowds). For me personally, there is a certain way P-funk music should be hit and I recognize it immediately when it is. (The vocals of Silva and the Brides stand way way out and above and I couldn’t help wonder what if what if WHAT IF it all could be on the same stage at one time!!!!)

Again, where was I? Let me set my current situation and state of mind: its 5:44am, I’m at work after having driven to Sandy Eggo after 8 hours of work from L.A. to funk with Bootsy front row center for 2.5 hours, and then driving back to L.A. and going directly to work after an hour of sleep in the car 13 hours after I got off work. I haven’t been home and haven’t showered. Did I say that tight?

Anyways, the over the counter diet pill euphoria is kickin’ in as I’m still filled with that funk feeling after having Bootsy kiss me on my head and being smack dab front and center giving it to the band just as hard as they are kicking it to the audience. Over the years I’ve come to realize how big and black and happy and animated and rhythmic and on it and how in everybody’s face on stage I can be watching them like I’m a judge of some kind of funk Olympic performance because it is that critical, special and sacred to me and its obvious how serious I’m taking this that the music I LOVE is not “compromised” by THE ONES I look to like gods to play it “right.” Other bands can play it however the hell they want but there is an integrity I look to like worship that can very much disrupt my universe if blasphemed upon by my funk gods. But hey, I think as I’ve gotten older I’ve softened a bit but not enough not to expect p-funk excellence every night from my funk gods. I don’t want my feelings hurt and they have been because I will not lower my expectations. I will just have to be disappointed like with the recent gate shaking- BUT the reward when my funk gods give it to me the way I LIKE it there is no better high musically for me- NONE NONE NONE nothing and no band has ever compared to the way P-funk music does it.

I’m rambling. And a funk I don’t give about that because it’s been awhile and I’m in that funk zone that Mr Collins and Mr Waddy and Mr Cooper and Mr Johnson and etc have put me in. And it feels good. Like I said Bootsy’s style of P-funk ain’t like GC & PFunk’s and I don’t want to say it ain’t as “pure” I really don’t want to say that, maybe not as stanky? But they brought it last night and gave it to me good. And oh yeah, that Bootsy in the crowd touch somebody STILL to this day funks me up!!!!

We Must Go Beyond God

20150530_185055I feel I have a personal responsibility to fully exercise this gift of consciousness and to live and think above all perceived barriers and limits. i feel this way because this gift of consciousness was “given” to me in an environment that is design to help me succeed. I see that nature in the Sun-Earth ecosystem fosters and nurtures us as an ally. This place within the space we exist is actively rooting for us to develop and go beyond any limits to our imagination to find that which will help life to survive long term.

So with this gift of consciousness, which (presently) puts us “above” all other living things, comes a responsibility to maintain and protect that precious initial spark that became life as we know it. And I’m not just talking about saving a whale or hugging a tree, I’m talking about developing the science and understanding for life to continue for millions and millions of years. To go beyond and evolve life into that undetermined “thing” that raises not only our being but all life around us that we are totally dependent on.

We cannot do this believing that there is a God who has a plan for us, or that we will die and go to a better place. To attain this kind of knowledge we must literally go above the limit many religions and doctrines have set that prevents us from gaining such knowledge. We must boldly and aggressively seek understanding that religious institutions throughout our history have taught belongs only to God. Our children must be born and educated without such limits to free their imaginations and creativity.
