Dr. Cornell West and Black People’s Attitude Towards the Sciences

Smiley and West reflect on the discovery by scientists of the “God particle”, a sub-atomic key to understanding the (physical) existence of life.

i love Dr Cornell West but this kind of flippant attitude towards science at this level from someone looked to as intellectual by his community is whats keeping black folks behind the curve, trapped in church, thinking a god in the sky will supply all the answers. This leads to a systemic cultural ignorance which puts whole generations at a severe disadvantage in a modern world based more and more on science.

the video summary states incorrectly that the “god particle” is “a sub-atomic key to understanding the (physical) existence of life.” evidence of this particle is theorized to indicate how all matter (everything) in the universe can have mass (weight). so its not he existence of life, but more so the existence of the universe.

why did they even post this audio clip? what was the intention? was it to let their listeners know its ok to be ignorant of cutting edge modern science? it like saying you dont need to understand all this this physics news science stuff cause science gets it wrong all the time and will never answer the questions only god can.

now im not saying grandma or aunty need to understand particle physics or quantum theory, but have an idea of what it is to expose the children to it. take them to church and tell them that god did it, but also put a book in their hand an show them there are other ideas. water cooler conversation in a modern workplace environment and all your kids got is “god did it, thats all i need to know.” im having an anxious flashback now remembering dealing with minds that never had a chance to open and watching them struggle in a world that has zoomed passed them…

  • there is no right or wrong, its about the ability to believe uninhibitedly
  • having a boundless imagination and freedom to think outside the limitations of logic
  • when fantasies = beliefs = personal definitions and perceptions and even realities; “personal realities”
  • the ability to “create” this space and “exist” in it
  • manifest one’s beliefs and fantasies into realities
  • they key is that it all starts as a fantasy. a dream. a desire
  • to have that space where one is free to have fantasy and freedom of imagination to create and think  things never thought of
  • to find fellowship in that space in the form of like minds
  • the synergy of multiple conscious imaginations working in harmony energized by the spirit of connection
  • the synergy of like minds deep in imaginative conscious thought as a spirituality
  • harmonious rhythm energies of the sub-conscious networks that connect everything in this universe which vibrate in the quantum arena
  • in this i place my faith

my-Transits: 2012 06 19

 No seats to sit, train full.  Well, there wasn’t none till 2 people where i was standing just got off. I feel a bit weird sitting when there are older females standing. But my rationale is i take up less space sitting and not being in the aisle and this is a greater benefit to the universe.

What do i mean when i say universe? “Universe” to me is the system of space and time that we exist in. Its more than just matter and space. Its more than just the place inside which we live. It is also the laws and physics which govern how things behave and interact in this realm. There is a “reason” why certain elements only bond with certain other ones. There is a “reason” why the speed of light is what it is. Some say our universe is finely tuned and if it was slightly different in many a category, life and or nothing could exist.

Who or what determined these reasons im not going to address right now, but i will later. The universe as a system “operates”  and has a “rhythm” (this is an over simplification that i must explain eventually).  Life evolved from and because of the standards and rhythms set by the universe over billions of years. So there is a deep intimacy in the relationship between life and the universe.  (its impossible for there to be a place better than the sun- earth ecosystem for life as we know it)

Life has adapted to thrive within the sun earth ecosystem which is a product of the “universe.” It is said that all matter comes from the explosion of stars so that means that everything in the universe including living creatures was physically created by the universe. The laws of physics which cause this to happen is part of the system of the universe of which i refer to. It all works together in a harmony.

This ” harmony” goes beyond what we can observe and detect. Life also has its own rhythm and energy which is interrelated to the universe.

I think what im trying to do is exchange the term “universe” for “god” and indicate there is a “higher” presence. I believe there is something “greater” than us and is capable way more than what we know. I do not believe this to be a single self conscious entity. I believe it to be a type of conscious energy. Or something, i dont know im brainstorming right now. Conscious energy is tough even for me to accept and explain and i just said it.

A conscious entity did not intentionally create the universe.
There never was nothing, nothing is even something
There is no conscious entity watching over or protecting us
Consciousness will eventually evolve to exist in a form outside of body


The singularities in black holes are gateways to other universes

Some form of matter, energy, conscious or something can survive singularity and is passed to or creates other universes.

 

 

Faith works.
My faith is in the “Theory of Universe”

On the train and i will get to work like 30 minutes early. I must love what i do. I love public transit. My lifestyle changed gradually over time to be more compadible with not having a car. One thing i cant do again is a car payment. Well, i say that now in my present situation. And i like my present situation or at least have whole heartedly accepted it. I love the way i live, i deeply believe in it. I think even if i had money i would stick to my simplistic minimalistic principles. I am not impressed or attracted to material things. If anything im impressed with places, creativity and accomplishment. What someone is wearing and how they look is important, but there is a cutoff. The extravagance or expensiveness is only relevant to me as how it fits with the perception of the personality. Sometimes the expense and the extravagance is the personality and thats cool, but not for me.

My-Transits 2012-06-18

Its hot on the bus. I guess it should be though its only 745am, it is all but summer in southern california. Im sweating. It feels good to be going back to work, to be back into the mix of everyday city life. This contract was suspended for 3 weeks and im returning today. And im ready!

My 50th birthday was 2 weeks ago and i celebrated it the best way i knew how without even knowing it. Yeah i was thinking about doing something special like a big party, etc etc. But maybe subconsciously i put myself in a position to do what i always do on my birthday. And that is be alone in a deep solitude.  As i wallowed alone in sloth it struck me that if i could be doing anything i wanted for my birthday i would be probably be doing exactly what i was doing.

Sure my “excuse” was that i was broke and not capable financially of doing anything. This helped to relieve me of any pressure. Not having money is one thing, feeling or being broke is another. When i feel broke i dont feel like doing nothing. Ive travelled across the country before with no money, that was different cause i didnt feel broke. When i feel my safety and security are threatened cause i dont see a way to maintain due to a lack of income its hard to party and celebrate until i figure a way it can be done. Its about faith. Seeing a way and having a belief that everything will be ok. That may be the difference in being or feeling broke and just not having any money, optimism.

So i let go. Some people might call it leaving it in god’s hands. I told myself (whether it was true or not) that everything would be ok, the universe will take care of me as it always had.

(The universe as a system, not the physical aspect or actions of it. My universe is a system i have created around me that consists of my assets, energy, people, knowledge and the etc that i live within as i go thru life. I dont see the universe as something that does things but as a lifestyle that involves a karma like situation along with safety nets that i have built through my interactions with the universe)

I wrote “the dailys” for years and want to get back into that creative writing habit using this exercise as inspiration and motivation.

My Discovery of Parliament / Funkadelic and a Funk Pure

mbird4Probably summer 1977. As I remember it was in the dining room of my babysitters house. I was sitting at the table when I heard a sound I had never heard before. It was the keyboards of Mothership Connection. I immediately asked “who is that?” The response was thats “Parliament, its been out, it’s old” (it had been out maybe months). Immediately I had the 8 track in my hand,  bootleg probably from George’s Party Shop. Plain blue label, black basic print and nothing but song titles. I asked if I could listen to this 8-track and rememebr taking it home. Sometime later I typed out the words to P-Funk on my mother’s electric typewriter until I created a copy without mistake. The sound of the music caught my ear, but it is the lyrics and concept that keep my attention to this day. It was positve, happy, celebatory music with a coolness. Music with a strong positive movement that I could feel.  It didnt contradict itself and it was consistent. It was a science fiction type of reality in music. It didnt dwell on love and it was all about fun. Friends began telling me Funkadelic and Parliament were the same people so I checked them out. I didn’t like Funkadelic, it was too dark.

I first saw “P-FUNK” live in Pittsburgh or Cleveland, a bus excursion to the concert and back. I forget who sponsored it, but we was dressed up and my little sister and her friends even went. My seat was so far back and the whole experience was so overwhelming I really didn’t see or understand much. I rememebr seeing enough to understand the underwater effect they were trying to achieve. Because word around the hood was that it was really underwater and I wanted to see just how they were gonna pull that off without damaging the philosophy or being cheesy cause that was important to me cause this was something i deeply believed in.

It’s been almost 40 years and the philosophy has never let me down. Never in any lyric is there something that I strongly disagree with, find non-sensical or even grammaticly incorrect. Never in two places does “P-FUNK” contradict itself with conflicting  concepts, it is truly consistent. 

The “Mothership” keyboards are an unnatural sound, not found in nature, human produced- mechanized technology electronic gadgetry.
P-Funk doesn’t dwell on dysfunctional personal love or God.
